VirusHunter demonstrated two complementary uses of programmable DNA chips: detecting many pathogen targets in parallel and reading viral genomes for surveillance. We are building on that foundation for new pathogen genomics collaborations.
A platform proven during the pandemic
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Centrillion developed VirusHunter™ assays, ATOM™ chips, and QuadCore™ chips for rapid multiplex detection, SARS-CoV-2 whole-genome sequencing, and variant tracking. The work showed how one programmable DNA chip foundation could support both focused detection and genome-level surveillance.
The historical VirusHunter Multiplex Virus Panel used compact 1 mm × 1 mm ATOM™ chips to organize pathogen targets, antimicrobial resistance markers, and controls in high-throughput plate formats. The VirusHunter ARTIC workflow used tiled QuadCore™ arrays to read SARS-CoV-2 genomes and generate sequence and variant outputs without a conventional sequencing library workflow.
Centrillion is now revisiting this platform for broader pathogen genomics. Potential programs include respiratory or emerging-pathogen panels, resistance surveillance, viral genome monitoring, and custom content designed around a public health, research, or product need.
